The estimator will be responsible for analyzing bid specifications, subcontractor quotes, and drawings in the preparation of an Electrical project specific bid.
Bi-Con Services employees working in safety-sensitive positions are drug and alcohol tested under the federal DOT regulations.
Testing is conducted for pre-employment, on a random basis (according to the requirements of DOT), reasonable suspicion and post-accident (according to the requirements of DOT.
) Under DOT regulations, marijuana, whether with a medical prescription or not, is considered an illegal substance.
Responsibilities:
Attend pre-bid meetings as necessary.
Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
Identify subcontractor needs for specific bids.
Prepare subcontractor RFQ packages for bid purposes.
Complete construction take-offs for bid preparation utilizing estimating software.
Obtain and evaluate subcontractor quotes for the evaluation.
Prepare material RFQ packages for bid purposes.
Research historical data (purchase orders, subcontracts, job cost reports, etc.
) for bid purposes.
Maintain historical data and estimating units.
Maintain files of working documents as backup for estimate figures.
Attend bid evaluation meetings and communicate basis for bid details.
Attend pre-job planning meetings.
Provide estimating support to other divisions as required.
Provide assistance to project managers as necessary.
Provide assistance to field crews as necessary.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
4-year degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience required.
2
years construction estimating, engineering or similar experience preferred.
General knowledge of estimating techniques, cost control and material pricing required.
Ability to calculate mathematical extensions, read and understand engineering drawings, purchase orders, contracts, cost coding systems, etc.

Detail-oriented, organized and ability to multi-task in a high-volume, deadline driven environment.
Excellent problem solving, time management and decision-making skills.
Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
Excellent communication skills; verbal, written and interpersonal.
Work will involve being in an office setting and field work.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
